Gail Sweatland Brochure on Colon Hydrotherapy or Colon Therapy

What is Colon Hydrotherapy?

Colon Hydrotherapy is a gentle infusion of warm filtered water into the large intestines, using no chemicals or drugs. The warm water helps to soften, break up, then remove impacted and dehydrated fecal, mucoid, parasitic and other waste material that layer the intestinal walls.

The client relaxes comfortably on a massage table as a small sterile, disposable rectal tube or speculum is gently inserted into the anus. The speculum has a separate water and waste line that is attached to the hydrotherapy equipment.

The therapist then begins a series of gentle infusions of filtered water into the colon, controlling the water temperature and pressure. As soon as the client experiences any urgency or fullness, the waste line is opened. The water, along with old fecal material, gas, mucus, and toxins are released through the waste line and then through an illuminated viewing tube so that the amount and type of waste being eliminated can be thoroughly assessed. The waste in then flushed away through the sewer line.

The Goals of Each Treatment Are:

-Hydrate the body…

-Soften and remove hardened toxic fecal matter…

-Stimulate and strengthen the nerves, muscles, glands, circulatory and immune components of the digestive system…

-Stimulate peristalsis (the natural wavelike muscular movement that moves waste through the intestines)…

-Cleanse the intestinal wall to allow better nutrient absorption.

How Many Sessions Are Needed?

The number of sessions will depend on the individual needs of each client. Most people on the standard American diet will need a series of six to eight treatments fairly close together to receive a thorough cleansing of the colon. Then a monthly maintenance treatment is suggested to keep the colon cleaned and toned.

Is Colon Hydrotherapy Safe?

It is completely safe. The hydrotherapy equipment is FDA approved. Sterile-disposable tubing and specula are used with each treatment to prevent client-to-client contamination. The water used has an extensive filtration system to filter out chemicals and contaminants. The water pressure and temperature are controlled at all times for the client’s complete comfort and safety.

Is It Embarrassing or Painful?

Your dignity is completely maintained with proper draping in a private room, and because a closed system is used, there is no offensive odor or mess to worry about. There may be minimal cramping or discomfort just before a release, as with any bowel movement. Most of the treatment is very relaxing. The therapist uses various abdominal massaging techniques along with relaxation and visualization suggestions to add to the client’s comfort and to help facilitate a more thorough cleansing.

How Do I Prepare For a Treatment?

For the best cleansing, drink a lot of water and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables several days before your treatment. On the day of your treatment you may be more comfortable if you refrain from eating or drinking too many liquids for at least two hours before your scheduled appointment time.
